Banyuwangi

A Surfers Paradise

Banyuwangi is one of the most underrated yet beautiful places in Indonesia which is soon blossoming into an amazing destination to explore especially on your way to the famous island of Bali. Being the easternmost cities in Java, Banyuwangi is the first place to receive the shining rays of the sun before any other place on the island.

Banyuwangi is a great place for all those who are on the lookout to embark on an adventurous journey. There are many hiking opportunities available, and many mountain climbers often flock to the legendary ‘Ijen Crater’ and get awe-struck by the amazing blue flames springing out of the evenly cut yellow sulfurous rocks. To experience the beauty of the crater in its purest form it is advisable to not carry anything of silver as the high sulfur content is most likely going to tarnish it.

Apart from the unique blue fire, Banyuwangi also attracts many surfers to its beauty and glory. The beaches are a great place for fun under the sun, and being untouched makes the beaches perfect to spend some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Plengkung Beach is extremely famous among surfers, and it also has the second-best beach for surfing after Hawaii! This is the most famous beach in Banyuwangi and has been accorded with the title of “G-Land”.
